With iOS 12, Apple has introduced one major improvement to CarPlay: it has allowed support for third-party navigation apps. Google Maps has already been updated with CarPlay support on iOS 12 launch day and now Waze has rolled out an update with to add CarPlay support as well. Once you update the Waze app on your iPhone from the App Store, the app will automatically show up when you activate CarPlay. You can then use Waze app to report traffic issues, navigate to places, receive alerts related to traffic, and more. “We’re excited to bring the power of the Waze community right into drivers’ car consoles with Apple CarPlay,” said Jens Baron, Waze Platform Strategy. “This enables us to bring to life one of our users’ most requested integrations, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the Waze app on the larger Apple CarPlay display.” Due to system limitations in iOS 12, users will not be able to set Waze as their default navigation app in CarPlay. This stands true eve...

Siri Suggestions Not Coming to iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5s

Image
Own an  iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and cannot wait for iOS 12 to try out Siri Shortcuts ? Well, here’s some bad news for you then. Apple has confirmed that it won’t be bringing Siri Suggestions with iOS 12 to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. This revelation was made by Craig Federighi, SVP of Software Engineering at Apple, as a response to an email sent to him by a Redditor . Apple executives are known to reply to various feedback emails that they receive from time to time so there’s little reason to doubt this piece of news. While the iPhone 6 will support the Shortcuts app, it will not offer AI-based Siri suggestions like it would on iPhone 6s and newer iPhones. Since the iPhone 6 will not support AI-based Siri Shortcuts Suggestions, its predecessor — the iPhone 5s — will also be on the same boat since it has even weaker internals. Given the age of both devices though, it is understandable why Apple is not able to bring Shortcut suggestions to these devices...
